He's not the type that's going to learn frame data or such but he'll learn enough to be fairly competent in the game. He likes to play with friends and mess around and learn a bit. For the style NRS is going for it's really polished. So to say NRS games aren't as 'polished' as others is incorrect because your issue is in the way it plays, not its polish. It doesn't mean that the gameplay is poor, it's just not what you like. The style is literally something I can't argue for or against because it just comes down to preference. As far as leniency with inputs there's an option called 'input shortcuts' that can be turned off to drastically lower the buffering in controller settings. Nothing spectacular, nothing egregious, just okay.

It is as mediocre animation-wise as it gets.

Regardless, Injustice 2 doesn't have poor animations that are easy to point out like MKX and doesn't have downright shitty ones like MK9. Any other is probably piggybacking off that one. There has been one video (AFAIK) and everyone points to it. KI's animations don't really match the 'weight' of the button pressed but it's super fun. I've had fun with some clunky ass fighting games. I have no clue how animation is critical to a fighter being fun.
